About this Session
Is it defiance — or a brain-based difference?
In this webinar, participants will learn how challenging behaviors in individuals with FASD often stem from brain-based differences rather than defiance. Discover how to reframe behaviors as signals of unmet needs, dysregulation, or skill gaps — and gain practical tools to foster empathy and cooperation in daily interactions.
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will increase understanding of how brain-based differences associated with FASD may appear as defiance but be rooted in neurodevelopmental challenges
- Participants will learn to reframe challenging behavior from bold refusal to signals of unmet needs, dysregulation, or skill deficits, which can help foster empathy and reduce power struggles.
- Participants will identify and apply practical strategies to reduce escalation and increase cooperation in daily interactions.
